KTBC first signed on the air
in 1952, and has been instrumental in informing and
entertaining the Central Texas Area.
Originally a radio station, KTBC-TV had
the unique opportunity to choose programming from each of the
four major networks: ABC, CBS, NBC, and (soon to be defunct) DuMont.
CBS eventually became KTBC's sole affiliation in the mid-60s,
following the debut of KXAN (then KHFI). |

the UT tower shooting in 1966, with Neal Spelce giving viewers

KTBC was also the first workplace of PBS
journalist Bill Moyers.
In 1995, KTBC and KBVO (now KEYE)
switched affiliations. Fox 7 recently celebrated its
50th anniversary with a one-hour special that has recently
been added into the Internet
Movie Database. |
*KTBC

as a
multi-network carrier of ABC, NBC, CBS and DuMont on
Thanksgiving Day 1952. Channel 7 was officially named an
exclusive CBS affiliate in 1965. |
*Former
